All Post Offices Open on Christmas and New Year’s Eve; Most Close at Noon

 

 

USPS has announced retail lobbies at Post Offices nationwide, including those in the Sacramento postal district, will be open for business Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Monday, Dec. 31. But most will shorten their hours, closing at noon. Regular mail delivery will not be affected by these changes.

 

Post Offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1. Only Express Mail will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in most major metropolitan areas. Post Offices will be open during their normal times Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

 

Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office. Commercial customers should check with their Bulk Mail Entry Units for information regarding holiday hours.

Robber Shoots Kings County Victim With Own Rifle

On  Monday morning, 12-17-12, at 0213 hours, subjects forced there way into a home in the 300 block of south 6th avenue South of Kingsburg in Kings County. They were attempting to rob the occupant of the house when the victim pulled out a 22 Caliber rifle to defend himself. The suspects attempted to stab the victim and were able to take the rifle away from the victim and shot the victim numerous time in the leg, back, and groin. The victim was airlifted to a Fresno hospital and is expected to fully recover. The supects were described as one Hispanic female and  three Hispanic male adults. The suspects fled in an unknown type car.

Just in time for the peak holiday season, the U.S. Postal Service is offering helpful pointers for customers to relieve holiday shipping hassles and get those gifts under the tree in time for St. Nick’s arrival.

California has had its first taste of cold, wet weather, and while people prepare for holiday travel, the oncoming winter season and the onslaught of more rain and snow, the California Office of Traffic Safety wants to remind motorists of the importance of staying safe and alert when driving in dangerous conditions.

"The coming weeks are sure to bring heavy holiday traffic and more wet weather, so exercising extreme caution when hitting the roadways is incredibly important," Christopher J. Murphy, Director of the California Office of Traffic Safety said.

Nominations Sought For 2013 Freedom Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

This special award is given to employers that go to extraordinary lengths to support their employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.
