Slick Rock Student Film Festival This Saturday
The 10th annual Slick Rock Student Film Festival – Central California’s largest student film competition – is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 at the Fox Theatre in downtown Visalia. This year, the festival received 192 films, representing the work of over 380 students. The high school films receiving a “Premiere Cut” designation will be screened at the theater beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. A screening schedule will available at www.SlickRockFestival.org on Thursday, May 16. At 5:30 p.m., students who played a central role in producing "Premiere Cut" films (along with their advisors) are eligible to participate in the Limo/Red Carpet Walk. The awards ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m.

BEAT Heart Disease at Lemoore Save Mart Health Fair

Supporting Save Mart Supermarkets year-long campaign to help women BEAT heart disease, 

The Lemoore Save Mart from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday will host free health screenings in support of the fight against women's heart disease.

The health screenings support Save Mart Supermarkets yearlong collaborative campaign with the American Heart Association and its Go Red For Women to help women BEAT heart disease

Nurses will be on site to administer screenings consisting of: body mass index, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol. Free consultations with a Save Mart Pharmacist are also available, organizers of the fair said.

Everyone screened receives a bag of heart-healthy samples and BEAT-branded items to take with them.

Free Document Shredding

Central Valley Community Bank is once again offering free shredding of legal documents for personal or business needs.

The mobile shredder will be in different locations throughout the San Joaquin Valley in the coming months. What makes this shredding safe is that papers will be shredded in different locations - to help combat identity theft concerns.

Student Filmmakers Wanted!
The Tulare County Office of Education is preparing for the 10th annual Slick Rock Student Film Festival – Central California’s largest student film competition. The deadline for students to submit their films is Monday, April 15. Middle and high school students in the seven South Central Valley counties of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced and Tulare are eligible to compete in the festival. Instructions for uploading films can be found at www.slickrockfestival.org.

The Clovis BIG Hat Days are this weekend - sponsored by Table Mountain Casino!

Craft and food booths will line Pollasky from 3rd to 8th Streets. Old favorites are returning with a lot of fresh new faces from across the country.

In the food court and along the streets you’ll find ice cream and strawberry treats, mini-donuts and corn dogs, Italian ice and kettle korn as well as shaved ice.  There will also be traditional barbeques, Indian tacos, Chinese food, and French fries. 

The bands are lined up for the Budweiser Beer Garden and the carnival is ready to set up.

Remember that there is free admission and free parking. Please leave your pets at home

A one-of-a-kind market focused on antique, vintage, repurposed, and handmade goods.” says Julie Gomes, co-producer of the Old Town Flea Market with Karen Chisum, to be held Saturday & Sunday June 8-9th at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds, in Old Town Clovis.

The Old Town Flea Market, a first of its kind in the Central Valley, comes to the Clovis Rodeo Grounds on Saturday & Sunday, June 8-9th. Gates open for sales as early as 8:00 am on Saturday, June 8th, rain or shine.
