Young Entrepreneurs Stepping Up For Edison Challenge!

 

On Wednesday, March 13, teams of young entrepreneurs from Tulare, Fresno and Kings county high schools will present projects at the Visalia Convention Center, in response to Southern California Gas Company Challenge for Student Entrepreneurs.

The Challenge is designed to encourage students to develop products, services or other economic growth ideas that can be applied in the San Joaquin Valley.

Eight high school teams will represent the following schools: Golden West High School (Visalia), Porterville High School, Harmony Magnet Academy (Strathmore), McLane High School (Fresno), Minarets High School (Oakhurst-North Fork), Sierra Pacific High School (Hanford), Lemoore High School, and Mt.

World Ag Expo will kick off its 46th annual show tomorrow, February 12, 2013 in Tulare, California.

Gates open at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, and the playing of the National Anthem will be followed by a two-plane flyover, expected shortly before 10:00 a.m.

The largest annual agricultural exposition of its kind, World Ag Expo touts more than 1,400 exhibitors who display cutting-edge agricultural technology and equipment on 2.6 million square feet of show grounds.

Just in time for the peak holiday season, the U.S. Postal Service is offering helpful pointers for customers to relieve holiday shipping hassles and get those gifts under the tree in time for St. Nick’s arrival.

“The holidays are less than three weeks away and understandably customers are beginning to feel the pinch,” said Krista Finazzo, consumer advocate for the Postal Service. “Whether sending a large toy or mailing a greeting card to loved ones overseas, customers can feel at ease with the Postal Service knowing there are dozens of affordable products and services designed to help make holiday mailing and shipping simpler than ever before.”

Given the busy season ahead, Finazzo shares six simple tips to help customers avoid those holiday hassles:

Help “Fill the Truck” and Spread Holiday Cheer!

Walmart and The Salvation Army are asking for your help to provide new toys and coats to local children.

Stores in Clovis, Dinuba, Fresno, Hanford, Madera, Porterville, Sanger, Selma, Tulare, and Visalia will be holding “Fill The Truck” events from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 8th.

Volunteers will be giving shoppers a list of suggested gifts to help fill the Salvation Army Truck and/or collection bins at the store.

Once the donation receptacle is full, The Salvation Army will bring the donations to the local Salvation Army Corps and distribute the gifts to local children in need.
